In The Pink

I know I’ve posted a lot of animal shots over the last few days, but I can’t help myself – at least they’ve all been of different creatures, so hopefully you don’t mind too much?

Today’s animal shot is of a Chilean Flamingo, strutting around in a golden pool of light and water.

What did this image teach me?

The more you look at a flamingo, the more unusual it becomes – the pink feathers, for a start. I know it’s because of the food they eat… but that only adds to the strangeness. I mean, imagine if we changed colour based on our food intake? And that beak, with its 90° bend in the middle… it almost looks as if the poor bird has flown into a window and bent its face out of shape.

Still, they are elegant and engaging, in their own way.
