Pink Pink

This Chilean Flamingo is a most spectacular shade of pink, and (as I suspect most people know) this bird’s colouring comes from the food it eats. However, did you know that the particular element of their food that turns them this delightful shade (or even a darker red colour) is called beta carotene? Or that this chemical is also found in tomatoes and carrots?
