Stourhead Stone

This stone sculpture stands next to the lake at Stourhead National Trust property.

The garden at Stourhead opened in the mid 1700s, designed by Henry “The Magnificent” Hoare the 2nd. He earned the nickname “magnificent” when he revealed the extravagant garden to the world.

They are magnificent indeed, with the central man made lake surrounded by sculptures and some unusual trees.
