The Bowing Crane

This is a rather elegant Sarus Crane (or Antigone Antigone if we want to get all Linnaeus about it), bowing its head in the low, golden sunlight.

What did this image teach me?

That I need to do more research into the intriguing world of animal naming, as there are some interesting insights to be found there. For example, why is the Sarus crane called “Antigone”… I must find out.
