This pigeon was definitely not afraid of me. If anything it was the other way around!
Does anyone recognise this bird? Ok, perhaps not this exact bird, but its species… Update – July 8th: this bird has been positively identified as a Grey Gull.
The Kookaburra takes its name from the Wiradjuri people of Australia who call it “guuguubarra” after the sound it makes.
This bird of prey was getting so hot on the day I took this shot, that it’s owner was gently washing it with cool water. Surprisingly (to me sr least), the bird seemed to really enjoy it.
Egrets are elegant birds in the heron family.
Still something of an unusual sight here in the U.K., this great white egret was stalking for fish along the local, flooded river.
