I captured this female mandarin duck on a bright and chilly morning. I really like the way the water is all shiny and silvery, very reflective.

This is yet another archive image (this pandemic has really caused me to take a lot fewer photographs than I usually would – so having a fairly large archive of potential images has been a bit of a bonus). What did this image teach me? To not underestimate some of my very early photography.

White-faced Whistling Duck
As the title says, these two birds are white-faced whistling ducks. They’re small water birds with very cute faces and a delightful whistle for a call. No quacks here! What did this image teach me? Dendrocygna viduata is the scientific name for this species, and it lives in both Southern Africa and South America.
