  • The Green Door Lion

    The Green Door Lion

This month is dedicated to random objects, which is a broad subject but one that I am looking forward to working through. We start with a lion shaped door-knocker, found recently in the city of York.

  • Sky, Mountain, Rock, and Water

    Sky, Mountain, Rock, and Water

This is one of my favourite shots, from one of my favourite locations in the whole, wide, world. This is the view from Sligachan across to the Cuillins on the Isle of Skye. You have to get here early to avoid the tourists, but it is definitely worth it.

  • The Line of the Fence

    The Line of the Fence

I cannot remember where I took this shot, other than “somewhere in the Highlands”. It was a beautiful day and the line of fence posts intrigued me. It may have been on the way to Ullapool.

  • Bubbles in Teal

    Bubbles in Teal

Water provides so many unique opportunities for creating abstract shapes, here’s another one (I promise not to fixate on water-based images for too much longer)…

  • Glass Bubble

    Glass Bubble

Take some glass, blow some air into it, and out comes something like this…

  • The Purple Knight

    The Purple Knight

Here’s the last of this short Harry Potter inspired set of photos, and this one is very colourful. I haven’t changed this in the computer, it was really lit up this way at the Harry Potter Studio tour (one day I might get to go back there and take some more photos).

  • The Stone Guardian

    The Stone Guardian

This tremendous creature guards the stairwell to Dumbledore’s office. If that doesn’t mean anything to you, then you definitely need a trip to Hogwarts.

  • The Goblin

    The Goblin

This statue comes from the Harry Potter Studio Tour, though I must admit I can’t picture whereabouts in the film series it was used. I’ll just have to re-watch them all again.

  • Abandoned

    Abandoned

These boats, sitting quietly on the shore at Salen, on the Isle of Mull, have become something of a tourist attraction. They are very picturesque. This shot was taken a few years ago, it would be good to go back one of these days and see how much they’ve changed.
