These are Portuguese tiles, from Lisbon. Tiles are a big thing in Portugal, going back centuries. In fact there is a museum dedicated just to tiles.

Please, please help me… I’m trying to identify what type of insect this is, but I don’t quite know where to begin? Shiny wings. Check. Creepy fuzzy black body. Check check. Enormous antenna. Check check check. But what am I?

Robin One Leg
Look closely and you’ll see that his bird only has one leg. I have no idea what happened to the other, but I can tell you that this bird was bright, lively, and full of the joys of spring.

Urn It
I know nothing about this intricate little urn, other than it lives in the North East of England. The shape and texture of it really caught my attention.

The Mermaid
I found this statue (several years ago now), hanging around outside the caves at Wookey Hole. The Disney adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “the Little Mermaid” removed quite a lot of the original tale… I mean they left out the scene where Ariel’s tongue is cut out, or when she stabs the prince to death!
