The Wooden Window
Here’s an interesting, and slightly random thing… a wooden window built into an old stone wall. I found this at Snows Hill, a National Trust property.

Strangled Cross
Another day, another cross – this time it’s a stone cross, wrapped in plant life, giving it something of a strangled appearance. I imagine there’s a metaphor in there somewhere, but I’ll leave you to work it out.

Do you know the mythical story of Sisyphus? Doomed to push a boulder up hill? Well, this stone work in Blackpool reminded me of that tale.

Stone Lines
This is a long exposure image (about 2.5 seconds) of some sea defences on the coast. By shooting in the pre-dawn light, and extending the exposure I am able to smooth the sea water until it has an almost fog-like consistency. Pretty abstract, I think.

This statue is hidden amongst the greenery at A La Ronde, a National Trust property in Devon.

These stone spheres were quite the trend, centuries ago. You can find them in many of the large, old houses around Britain.

I like the simplicity of this shot, the black and white toning brings out the texture of the foam and the shininess of the stones.

Pebble On Wood
Nothing to see here, just some artfully arranged pebbles hanging out on an abandoned old log (not arranged by me, I’m afraid). A large part of what makes an image interesting or compelling is something called “visual weight”, it’s that element that makes a photograph visually pleasing. Rocks on the Loch
Another shot from Scotland, as quite a few over the last week or so have been… What did this image teach me? Photography is all about light. I was fortunate enough to catch a brief ray of sunshine through dark clouds when I took this shot.
