The Oyster Catcher

Did you know that oystercatchers used to be known as sea-pie birds? That all changed in the mid-19th century when the name oystercatcher became commonly used. Various species live all over the world, but the name is based upon the observed eating habits of a particular North American species, Haematopus palliatus.
